Rubies are found in select regions around the world, each known for unique qualities shaped by local conditions. Myanmar’s Mogok region is famous for its “pigeon blood” rubies, though mining has declined due to political unrest and dwindling resources. In the 1990s, Mong Hsu emerged as a new source. Since the 2010s, Mozambique has become the world’s top ruby producer, offering vibrant red stones with outstanding clarity. Though they lack the fluorescence of Burmese rubies, their beauty is highly valued. Other important sources include Vietnam, Tanzania, and Pakistan.
