Have you ever imagined a world without the Internet? It is unthinkable considering the big role it plays in our lives. Doing research, sending mail, and connecting with people from all over the world would be too costly and time-consuming in a world without the Internet. Sigh. The internet would not have made the Berlin Wall go down any faster than it did. Four months was amazingly fast, in fact! The wall went down, stayed down, and there’s been forward progress ever since.
Online content is not free. Someone has to create that content, and for it to be worthwhile, those someone’s need to be paid for their work. The internet is still wonderful, even if online content isn’t free.
Occupy could have happened with or without the internet.
The spread of information would NOT come to a screeching halt… well, maybe it would temporarily, but there’s still television and radio and newspapers. The first two are very fast.
The world without the internet would be different, and definitely NOT better, just like the infographic says at the end. There are many better ways to make that point though, and a lot of them are in other infographics right here on this website!
